@The Shirakawa Megumi Center(Megumi means "the grace of God") was established as a long term care facility for children with intellectual disabilities according to the Child Welfare Act. This facility has a maximum of 30 users (not a big number in Japan) who are helped and raised like they were at home, provided with special education support, and medical care regardless of the level of their disability. The users attend an external compulsory educational facility, but are used in the Shirakawa Megumi Center. The center dispatched trained professionals to individual homes to provide consultation with families who require their services, and who may require short term care services. Yamagata Ikusei Center was established in April, 1990 as a rehabilitation permission.
